Aberrant Ceramics is the artwork of Aaron Nosheny, potter and ceramic artist based in Tucson, Arizona. Self-taught and neurodivergent, he has worked in stoneware clay since 2004. He makes non-traditional forms in a medium built on tradition, exploring the overlap between wonder and revulsion. Subject matter includes sympathetic monsters, insects, opossums, fast food mascots, and Halloween kitsch.

I am in love with my medium. I love the process of frantically birthing clay monstrosities, subjecting them to an epic trial by fire, and sending them out into the world.

Dumbo Octopus Coil Pot

This is a large, heavy piece, but it managed to disappear.  No idea if it sold, was stolen, accidentally broken and thrown away when I wasn't looking.

Kandarian Dagger, Glazed Version

Fish Head With Tongue-Stealing Parasites

This is built like a slab pot, but it's not a pot.  It's a fish head infested with two Cymothoa exigua, the rare and exciting tongue-eating louse.  The louse is a parasitic isopod which causes a fish's tongue to fall out and then takes the place of its tongue, presumably helping itself to a little of whatever the fish eats.  They really do have disturbing little smiley faces like that.
