Aberrant Ceramics is the artwork of Aaron Nosheny, potter and ceramic artist based in Tucson, Arizona. Self-taught and neurodivergent, he has worked in stoneware clay since 2004. He makes non-traditional forms in a medium built on tradition, exploring the overlap between wonder and revulsion. Subject matter includes sympathetic monsters, insects, opossums, fast food mascots, and Halloween kitsch.

I am in love with my medium. I love the process of frantically birthing clay monstrosities, subjecting them to an epic trial by fire, and sending them out into the world.

Bunny Harvestman Wall Sculpture

The Bunny Harvestman, Metagryne bicolumnata, is an arachnid native to Ecuador whose body resembles a rabbit's head. The animal's actual head is the small circle above its mandibles. Harvestmen, also known as daddy longlegs, are not spiders but a separate group of arachnids.

This is a high-relief sculptural interpretation of the Bunny Harvestman.
It's currently available in my Etsy shop:
https://aberrantceramics.etsy.com/listing/4486121218/handmade-ceramic-bunny-harvestman-wall

The sculpture captures the distinctive rabbit-ear protuberances and false eyespots of this Amazonian arachnid. The relief is hand-sculpted in speckled buff stoneware clay, with a high-gloss glaze on the specimen to contrast against the lightly glazed white background of the circular base. The deep amber and obsidian tones of the glaze highlight the segmented leg structure and ocular details.

The reverse side features an integrated ceramic hanging flange, allowing the piece to mount flush against the wall for a clean, museum-style presentation.

Dimensions: Approximately 7 in. diameter.
Weighs about 19 oz.

Unholy Lamb Sheep Bowl

This is one of a series of two sheep bowls.  This one has a collaged image of an eerily cute lamb image from an old Valentine's Day card.  Sheep stamp on the outside is based on a drawing by KV.

Anthraxus Sheep Bowl

This is one of a series of two sheep bowls.  This one has a collaged image of Anthraxus, a Dungeons & Dragons daemon of disease.  Stamp images inspired by drawing by KV.

Bear With Needles

This is another sculpture for the toy shelf in the Angry Mophead story.  It was also an excuse to buy hypodermic needles.

Eryops Sculpture

Eryops is an extinct amphibian with a crocodile-like form.

I used one on the Empress Tarot card and this is a sculptural version.

Dogface Hallucigenia

Hallucigenia is a fossil organism from the Burgess Shale.  It has always come out vaguely dog-like for me.
