Ent Vase That Doesn't Hold Water

I started a second Ent/Treant figure. This one is based on a digital painting by SirJarva on Deviantart. I realized there was no way I could get the leafy foliage the way I wanted it with clay, so it came out as a vase that doesn't hold water. I was thinking of using broccoli and then possibly changing it out for cauliflower at some point. I think rosemary might also work well.

Satyr Brawlers, Group 2

This is my second group of satyrs. I used a different technique to attach the horns and on two out of three satyrs, it worked. The bald satyr in the middle still lost most of his horns.

Chamsas 49 - 52

The eye on Chamsa 52 became detached from the hand in the bisque kiln, but I was able to reattach it using the glaze as an adhesive. This gives me hope for the "Bob" object.

Unfired Ent

There is an Treant/Ent character in Beyond the Crystal Cave, although it doesn't appear in any combat encounters. I wanted to make an Ent sculpture to use as a visual aid and this is what I came up with. It needed a support, but the wooden dowel in the top picture was too tall to fit on my shelf, so I used the doll instead.

Unicorn Plaque

This was a test for the use of the horse head mold in making a unicorn. The horn appears to be coming out of its eye.

Fiend Plaque

This is a plaque made from a mold made by tracing the image of the Misfits Fiend logo, which was lifted from the 1946 serial The Crimson Ghost. The impression is, of course, a mirror image of the original mold.

Pixies

These are pixies used as minis in D&D Encounters. The one on the left in the top picture has the face of Lando Calrissian's copilot Nien Nunb from Return of the Jedi.

"Bob" Update

"Bob" didn't make it through the bisque kiln entirely intact. The entire face became detached from the background and the lower part of the face became detached from the upper part. I glazed it anyway, hoping that the glaze will be able to hold the piece together. Sometimes that works. Note that the colors of the applied glaze do not accurately represent the colors after it goes through the glaze kiln.

On the other hand, if the players chose to side with the hamadryad and pixies of the Summer Fey, they were asked to prank the satyrs and wilden of the Green Fey Camp by tricking bears into devouring their casks of mead.

Young Unicorns

This week's session of D&D Encounters was called "The Test." The adventurers had to choose between befriending one of two camps of fey creatures and in either case, the other camp ended up as the adversaries. If the players chose to befriend the satyrs and wilden in the Green Fey camp, they were asked to prank the hamadryad and pixies in the Summer Fey camp by stealing their unicorns. My players didn't pick that possibility but here are the unicorns anyway.

The Bare Minimum Darth Vader-ness

My New Years resolution is to successfully build a Darth Vader flower pot, even if it only possesses the bare minimum Darth Vader-ness to qualify as such.




And also to build a penis monster.

Chamsa 48

This is the final chamsa of the year, made with a spare eye from the Jabba the Hutt Cupcake Replica.

Spare Oak Leaf

This oak leaf was damaged in an incorrectly fired bisque kiln, but I think it looks good enough after glazing.

Wilden Scraps

These are leftovers from the construction of the Wildens.

Wildens

Wildens are new additions to the D&D bestiary. They're meant to be fey (fairy) creatures that emerged from the Feywild to combat the increasing Far Realm menace. In the context of Beyond the Crystal Cave, they're getting drunk with a gang of satyrs.




I attempted to form the faces myself instead of using a mold and this one is my favorite.

Space Coyote 1

This is the hallucinogenic coyote that Homer Simpson encountered as a Johnny Cash-voiced spirit animal guide in the Simpsons episode "El viaje misterioso de nuestro Jomer."

Keys to the Palace of Spires

In Beyond the Crystal Cave, to enter the Palace of Spires, stronghold of the Dream Queen Soryth, the characters must collect four leaves to use as keys.

Sprig of Mistletoe (given by pixies in the Summer Glade)

Hate

I've been wanting to make this for a while. It's an image of J.R. "Bob" Dobbs, the prophet-salesman of The Church of the Subgenius. The words at the top read: "Hate means never having to say you're sorry."

Christmas Bears

These bears actually have nothing to do with Christmas. Beyond the Crystal Cave has an encounter featuring two small bears and one big angry bear. Unfortunately, they came out looking like wombats.

Extra Mudmen

The Encounter with the mudmen in Beyond the Crystal Cave was last week, but here are three extra mudmen.










The YouTube video of the Dragon's Lair Mudmen level from my first Mudmen post has disappeared. I uploaded one myself (and without the annoying tutorial). I fixed the original post, but here's the video again.

Satyr Brawlers

These are satyrs for Beyond the Crystal Cave. Most of them lost their horns. The one in the middle also became detached from his base. The faces are molded from a Jesus action figure and the bodies are from a minotaur eraser. I like the effect of not glazing the torsos and faces.





I started a new series of satyrs. They're built thicker and the horns are attached in a more secure way.

Bryar Witch Hamadryad

I think the hamadryad in the story is supposed to be a willowy girl in a blue dress. Mine came out a little more deranged, but at least she looks a little like a tree.
