Crocs from Above

Tonight was another Night of the Crocodilians. I made a stencil from a stock image of a crocodilian (I admit I'm not going to bother to learn the anatomical differences among the animals of this group at this time), cut them out, and traced them in four different sizes.

Night of the Crocodilians

I have an upcoming D&D game that requires crocodiles. Not dire crocodiles. Not plague-changed, blue-fireball-spewing death crocodiles. Just the big normal hungry kind that live in the sewers of Neverwinter. I've been working with the crocodile body shape and I'm finding it hard to make it fit into a one-inch square.

I made this one on Tuesday. I think it looks like one of those classic D&D combo monsters like the owlbear. This would be a gorillacroc.




These are my four crocodile attempts from tonight. I like the second from the left the best. The first one didn't really work; it seems to have Yoshi's head. I kept it because it comes closest to the size necessary for a medium creature on a grid. They are all biting on various objects so that their mouths will dry in an open position.

Wererats, Part 1

When I was in sixth grade, I acquired some erasers shaped like various mythological creatures and aliens from old science fiction films. I've begun to use them on a regular basis as the bodies for my D&D minis. In this season of D&D Encounters, several scenes take place in the underground hideout of a vicious criminal organization called the Dead Rats. Most of the members are wererats.




This one is meant to be a female Dead Rats member, but unfortunately I don't have any female bodies. I designed the body after asking several people around the studio what rat teats look like. At least one person had an opinion on the matter. The body isn't as nice as the molded bodies, and the rodent incisors don't really work, but I like the shiny black eyes.

Twig Blight #5

This is a late addition to the growing twig blight army that will probably be wiped out quickly by the violent power gamers. This one is meant to replace the one that disappeared from the kiln shelf, although I have another one coming up which is more directly modeled on the disappeared twig blight.

Kraken Tentacles, Batch 2

This is the second batch of kraken tentacles.



Note that these tentacles all look more or less the same, as the ability to tell them apart is not significant during the game.

Kraken Tentacles, Batch 1

A future session of D&D Encounters has the brave adventurers fighting an enraged kraken that lives in the sewers of New Neverwinter. Actually they only fight its tentacles. After I made these four, I realized that the kraken tentacles are minions, meaning that they only have one hit point and, since I won't need to keep track of how many hit points they have left, they don't need to be easily differentiable from each other. The second batch is much more uniform.

Twig Blight Swamp Vines

This is another variety of twig blights, different from the ones I posted last week. These ones are twig blight swamp vines, fey plant creatures that use their rope like appendages to keep their adversaries in a loving embrace long enough to eat their faces.

Chamsas 36 and 37

This is Chamsa 36, with the boot print from a thrift store GI Joe doll.









This is Chamsa 37. The impressions are from a rubber stamp found at the studio. The eye is from a mold of the type of eye on all prior chamsas, so it forms a negative image.

Twig Blights

These are twig blights, fey plant monsters for my D&D Encounters game. The image on the bottom right is the one that mysteriously disappeared from the kiln room shelf before it was fired.

Lobster Mold, Wererat Gang, Oozes

This is a mold of a large (11 inch) plastic lobster for a commissioned lobster chamsa.









Here are three more wererats for the Wererat gangsters in Lost Crown of Neverwinter.









These are various oozes and slimes I'm going to need throughout the game.

Furious Ape Stars

A recent thrift store shopping trip yielded this delightful fellow, a cybernetic ape with the characters "CY-3" on the arm. It is apparently Cy-Gor, a character from the Spawn comics.









One press mold of its face later, I produced these three Furious Ape Stars.

The Applepussy Monstrosity

I have no idea what this is. It looks like a veiny apple with monstrous tits, lasciviously splayed legs, and a sphincter-like orifice in the front.









The Applepussy Monstrosity is based on a child's clay sculpture that I found on someone else's shelf on a night that I didn't have any brilliant ideas of my own. Here are the two objects side by side.









The view from above: it looks like it should be smokeable, and yet it's not.

Twig Blight Shenanigans

Here are the twig blights from last week that went into the kiln...









...and here are the twig blights that were waiting on the shelf after the kiln ordeal? Notice anything missing? The twig blight on the far left in the above photo was nowhere to be seen. There wasn't even the usual pile of shattered limbs and jagged shards of head that usually appear when something has broken in the kiln.









I wrote a note to address the negligent twig blight handlers and left it in the kiln room.









I made one more twig blight to replace the missing one.









And I also made a few wererats to populate the Dead Rat gang in Lost Crown of Neverwinter.
