I'm about at capacity with the hand-built cups that are going to fit into a kiln in a few weeks so I'm returning to one of my favorite sculptural themes, the noble tardigrade.

Faithful to Human Dentition WIP

Finished Version of Black Tooth Pot

This is a flower pot with teeth.  I made an attempt to be faithful to human dentition.  The bottom teeth are, however, the same size as the top teeth.  Also, there is only one pair of premolars and I ran out of room for most of the molars.

Spider Cup WIP

This was also intended to be a plain cup with no aberrant elements, but it didn't feel right without some kind of ornamentation.  It has a molded spider on the inside and a spiderweb pattern on the outside.

It Feels Safer With a Cockroach

This is another slab cup with a fine example of a Periplaneta americana (American cockroach) at the bottom.  I was actually considering making one or more cups without any ornamentation whatsoever, but I find the concept to be intimidating.  Somehow, it feels safer with a cockroach.

Chamsas 121 - 125

The off-white glaze I usually use for eyes was apparently contaminated with another glaze, so the eyes on this series of chamsas came out orange.

Eye Cup #32, with the upper halves of five fanged mouths and five eyes.  The handle came out a little awkward.

All-Purpose Monster Miniatures

These are two all-purpose monster miniatures for use in a Dungeons & Dragons game.  I don't have any games going on currently, so I guess these will have to wait.  I made them a few weeks ago.  I was working at the pottery studio on a Saturday night when suddenly a large, noisy group of people turned up for a "clay party."  They were weekend revelers and I was there to work.  I felt trapped in the room where I was working.  While I waiting for the pot I was making to dry, I made these bold artistic statements.

Eye Cup #31 has large, blank eyes, similar to those on the Cthulhu Pot.  Other than the eyes, it has an insectoid appearance.  I considered trying to make the eyes look like compound eyes, but I didn't want to ruin it.

I find the concept of Zombi Jesus Love very funny.  I made a few of these object several years ago and I thought it was time for an update.

This is Eye Cup #30.  The bubble-like configuration of eyes reminds me of that wholly likeable Lovecraftian deity Yog-Sothoth.

I sold my sixth tardigrade on Etsy.  I was thinking of ways that I could mass produce tardigrade sculptures, but they're fairly time consuming.  The claws are especially difficult to get right.

In 2010, I made several objects like this one.  For some reason, the idea is very appealing to me.

It made sense to incorporate the design into a mug.  It should look better once the corn starch is burned off in the kiln.

Cannabis Leaves

This is a series of nine clay Cannabis leaves with holes for hanging or for use as jewelry.

These four are colored with an underglaze with a transparent glaze on top.

These five are painted with metallic acrylic paints.

Cockroach Cup 3 and Aberrant Erisian Saint WIPs

This is another cockroach cup.  This one has cockroaches both inside and out.

Tonight I also made the next in my series of Eris idols.  This one is based on a wooden saint statue.  It came out very aberrant indeed.

31 New Tiny Chamsas

This is a collection of 31 new tiny (about one inch long) chamsas.  Most are glazed.  A few are painted with metallic acrylic paints.

Panic - Science - Serf

I had an idea to make these clay collages with words surrounded by meaningless images.  I made a list of words I wanted to include, but I only got as far as Panic, Science, and Serf.  I had thought it would be fun to make and paint them, but it wasn't fun.  I didn't feel they were even worth painting individually, so I dipped them in glaze.  I like the way they came out, but I'm not intending on pursuing this project any further.
