Aberrant Ceramics is the artwork of Aaron Nosheny, potter and ceramic artist based in Tucson, Arizona. Self-taught and neurodivergent, he has worked in stoneware clay since 2004. He makes non-traditional forms in a medium built on tradition, exploring the overlap between wonder and revulsion. Subject matter includes sympathetic monsters, insects, opossums, fast food mascots, and Halloween kitsch.

I am in love with my medium. I love the process of frantically birthing clay monstrosities, subjecting them to an epic trial by fire, and sending them out into the world.

Hostility Eye Cup

This is the first piece from my recent firing.  It says "I am swimming in hostility and I love it."  I made it when I was sharing work space with someone with horrifically poor personal boundaries.  He's gone, but I still feel hostile towards almost everyone at the pottery studio most of the time.  It's clearly time to find a new work space.

February 2018 Bisque Firing

34 new pots and a few assorted sculptural objects.

One casualty:  The Hagfish-Faced Penis Monster cracked.  I can glue him back together and paint with acrylics but it probably wouldn't stay together in a glaze kiln.
